Aces stay top of the League!
26/10/22
In arguably the tie of the round, Aces prevailed 7-5 over Usual Suspects.
As usual, Graeme Innes got off to a good start beating Stewart Garrick with a couple of 30 breaks. Ian Reid had the same score line against Brian Shepley Senior, before Nicky Carr beat Ian Craig 2-1 in another close affair. In the end the difference was probably Kieran Craig’s victory against Sam McDonald again by a 2-1 score line.
Baize of Glory continue their impressive home form with yet another victory – this time against Point Break. Every team member contributed to their 9-3 victory with Martyn Muir clocking up another 3-0 victory – his 3rd of the season so far! Frames by Sophie Nix, David Nix and Paul Williams were the only consolation on a tough night for Point Break.
Century took on Chancers knowing that victory would keep them in the top half of the table. A convincing 9-3 victory against last week’s team of the week is bound to give them a lot of confidence going forward. Cameron Armstrong won 3-0, while his teammates all won 2-1.
Lucky Break were ruthless in their 10-2 victory against The Untouchables. 3-0 victories for Graeme Dick and Graham McQuaid were aided by 2-1 victories for both Christian Gibson and Steven Stamp. Special mention to David Hodalski who tallied an impressive 88 frame points score in the second frame against Steven Stamp to win only his second frame of the league so far.
Recording a 9-3 win for the third time in a row, Screwballs are consistently good. Potting Bowlers were no match on Monday night for the potential title contenders. 3-0 victories for Lucas Bryden, Thomas McLung followed up by a 2-1 victory by Niven Adams sealed the fate of Potting Bowlers. The only consolation was a 2-1 win for William Gelliburn against Jason Bryden.
The final match was between Tidy Rack and Blue Arrows. After getting their first point on the board last week, Blue Arrows were now looking for their first victory. Unfortunately they will have to wait a little longer as Tidy Rack ran out 7-5 winners. A 3-0 victory for Allan McLaren was probably the main difference between the sides. Wins for Brian McCrone and Robert Rutherford will give Blue Arrows hope that a team victory is not too far away.
There is still one outstanding match. Screwballs and Tidy Rack are hopefully going to play this week sometime. A good result for Screwballs could see them on top of the table, while Tidy Rack are currently on 4 points, looking to make a move up the table to join Screwballs on 6 points.
